About this text...

Baron von Sieberer and Josef Kiebach went down in the town's history as two particularly generous donors. Until the end of the monarchy, it was common among wealthy citizens to imitate the Christian virtues of generosity and charity of the aristocracy. Charity events of all kinds were particularly popular, where people could not only salve their consciences and do PR for themselves within the small town community, but also enjoy themselves at the same time.

On Sunday, the pot luck with evening entertainment organised in aid of the poor by the community council in Wilten and the Vincenzius Association for Wilten and Pradl, which was also honoured by the presence of the Imperial and Royal District Governor Dr. Anton Hoflacher, took place in the festively decorated premises of the well-known "Riesen Haymon" inn. District Governor Dr Anton Hoflacher, took place in the festively decorated premises of the well-known "Riesen Haymon" inn. The pot of luck was generously stocked with beautiful objects thanks to the charity of the residents, and therefore the frequency was so great that the lots were already sold out at 7 pm. The proceeds were very good. Entertainment was well provided for: a singing society performed songs in an excellent manner, two gentlemen shone by playing four hands on the pianoforte, other gentlemen took care of the humorous part in a very successful way; a gruesome morality play was also performed. The general opinion of this entertainment was summarised as follows: Contributing a mite to the welfare of the poor and having a great time.
